Cartoon Forum is a pitching and co-production event for animated TV projects, where, over three days, producers have the opportunity to pitch their project to 1,000 broadcasters, investors and other potential partners from 40 countries.
Cartoon Forum is a unique event focusing on the pitching sessions of pre-selected TV projects, where animation producers can find cross-border partners and accelerate their financial arrangements. It allows co-productions to be finalised, pre-buys to be agreed, distribution agreements to be negotiated, options to be discussed on every type of right, and secondary rights to be licensed. In addition, Cartoon Forum has energised European animation by creating a genuine network of cross-border cooperation and by restoring confidence in the relationship between producers and broadcasters.
The pitching sessions are the core element of Cartoon Forum: each project is presented in 30 minutes to all potential partners. Around the sessions, Cartoon Forum also creates excellent opportunities for networking.
Before the morning and afternoon sessions, the trailers of the projects to be discussed that day will be shown on a giant screen to all participants. These screenings convey the essence of the projects and help attract as many people as possible to the pitching sessions. Each pitch lasts 20 minutes, with an additional 5 minutes at the beginning and at the end of the presentation (30 minutes in total). The producer presents all aspects of their project, including the concept, graphics, characters, production schedule, stage reached in the financial arrangements, profitability scheme, and what they expect from the audience.
In addition, a dedicated area will be set up just outside each studio so that producers can follow up with interested parties without delaying the next presentation. The aim of the pitching sessions is to initiate negotiations between the project's producer, television channels and other financial partners in order to finalise the project's financial package as quickly as possible.
Moreover, an experienced and neutral animation consultant will help producers prepare their presentations in advance. The chairperson will also be present during the pitching session to introduce the producers and act as moderator.
Cartoon Forum 2026 will take place in Toulouse, in the Occitanie region of southwestern France, from 14 to 17 September 2026.
Applications are open to European producers (independent production companies) with an animation project of a minimum running time of 24 minutes. The project may be a series intended for television (and streaming platforms) or a TV special. All animation techniques are accepted, provided the project consists of at least 50 % animation. The project should be "in development" — that is, beyond the concept stage, sufficiently polished and developed, and should not yet have all of its financing in place. Each project must be accompanied by a written statement of interest from a broadcaster or streamer confirming their interest in the project.
Applications are submitted through the My Cartoon website, where applicants must create an account and upload all the requested information and materials, including the synopsis, letter of interest, project file and images.
