DKE – Ured MEDIA Hrvatske održao je MEDIA majstorsku radionicu i info dan „MEDIA prijava – kako razmišljati izvan uobičajenih okvira?”, namijenjen polaznicima ovogodišnjeg programa usavršavanja MIDPOINT Feature Launch 2026.
Svaku grupu vode voditelj grupe i script konzultant pripravnik. Voditelji grupa su Anne Gensior, Pavel Jech i Ivo Trajkov, a producentski mentor programa je Danijel Hočevar. Program obuhvaća projekte Confirmation, The Embrace, My 19-Year-Old Granny, Natura, Northern Lights, Not All Houses Have a Yard, Reminiscence, Smearhead i They Bloom at Dawn. Teme su im raznolike: odrastanje i vjera, obiteljski i moralni lomovi, politički otpor, posljedice rata te povijesne priče.
U programu sudjeluju: Arkadiusz Antosz, Ognen Antov, Darya Bassel, Ana Corbu, Angela Dimeska, Maciej Jankowski, Vojtech Masek, Monika Matuszewska, Marios Mettis, Katarina Mitrovic, Matej Paclik, Marek Partys, Louis Patsias, Yulia Pogrebnyak, Maja Popovic Milojevic, Merja Ritola, Marija Stojanovic, Mara Tamkovich, Anastasiia Tykha, Isidora Veselinovic, Olena Yershova i Victoria Zadorska. U ulozi script konzultanata pripravnika (Script Consultant Trainees) sudjeluju Sean Greenhorn, Lotte Laitinen i Eva Vlassopoulou.

The Creative Europe Desk – MEDIA Office Croatia held a MEDIA masterclass and information day entitled "MEDIA Application – How to Think Outside the Box?" for participants of this year's MIDPOINT Feature Launch 2026training programme. The session took place on 26 September 2026 as part of the programme's third workshop module in Pilsen (Czech Republic), organised in collaboration with the Finále Plzeň festival. It was conceived as a space for creative reflection, strategic thinking and a practical understanding of how feature film projects can access MEDIA development support.
The masterclass and info day were implemented in collaboration with the MIDPOINT training programme, one of Europe's leading platforms for screenwriting and audiovisual project development, operating under the auspices of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (AMU). Feature Launch is a professional script and project development programme for creative teams of writers, directors and producers, and for aspiring script consultants. It puts a strong emphasis on teamwork and a special focus on Central and Eastern Europe.
MIDPOINT Feature Launch 2026 supports the development of nine promising feature film projects, organised into three working groups. Each group is guided by a group leader and a script consultant trainee. The group leaders are Anne Gensior, Pavel Jech and Ivo Trajkov, and Danijel Hočevar is the programme's Producer Mentor. The programme includes the projects Confirmation, The Embrace, My 19-Year-Old Granny, Natura, Northern Lights, Not All Houses Have a Yard, Reminiscence, Smearhead and They Bloom at Dawn. Their themes range from coming of age and faith, through family and moral crises, to political resistance, the aftermath of war and historical narratives.
The MIDPOINT participants are Arkadiusz Antosz, Ognen Antov, Darya Bassel, Ana Corbu, Angela Dimeska, Maciej Jankowski, Vojtech Masek, Monika Matuszewska, Marios Mettis, Katarina Mitrovic, Matej Paclik, Marek Partys, Louis Patsias, Yulia Pogrebnyak, Maja Popovic Milojevic, Merja Ritola, Marija Stojanovic, Mara Tamkovich, Anastasiia Tykha, Isidora Veselinovic, Olena Yershova and Victoria Zadorska. The Script Consultant Trainees are Sean Greenhorn, Lotte Laitinen and Eva Vlassopoulou.
In the spirit of thinking outside the box, the session opened by tackling a few myths: can a "small country" succeed in MEDIA, and is MEDIA really out of reach and overly complicated? The Croatian example served as the answer. Between 2008 and 2025, Croatian beneficiaries received around EUR 20.5 million in MEDIA support, and the 2026 Co-development call alone supported six Croatian projects. That example carried a message for participants, many of whom come from lower audiovisual capacity countries: market size need not be an obstacle, and solid preparation and genuine European collaboration can make all the difference.
Through a combination of presentation, case studies and open discussion, the masterclass covered:
This helped participants better understand the logic of MEDIA calls, articulate the European added value of their projects more clearly, integrate audience and distribution considerations early in development, and feel more confident about future applications.
The role of the Creative Europe MEDIA Desk Croatia included preparing and leading the masterclass as a guest tutor of the programme, collaborating with MIDPOINT, and tailoring the content so that it was directly relevant to participants' future Creative Europe MEDIA applications.
