Radionica se održala 17. rujna 2025. i bila je zamišljena kao prostor za kreativno promišljanje, strateško planiranje i praktično razumijevanje načina na koji se projekti TV serija mogu razvijati i pozicionirati u sklopu Kreativne Europe MEDIA.

MEDIA Masterclass and Info Day: “How to Think Outside the Box” – in collaboration with MIDPOINT training programme - preparation for TV Beats Tallinn 2025

The Creative Europe Desk – MEDIA Office Croatia organised a MEDIA masterclass and information day entitled “How to Think Outside the Box”, aimed at the MIDPOINT training programme ‘TV Series Launch’s participants. The session took place on 17 September 2025 and was conceived as a space for creative reflection, strategic thinking and practical understanding of how TV series projects can be shaped and positioned within the Creative Europe MEDIA.

MEDIA majstorska radionica i info dan: „Razmišljati izvan okvira” – u suradnji s MIDPOINT programom usavršavanja - priprema za TV Beats Tallinn 2025.
DKE - Ured MEDIA Hrvatske organizirao je MEDIA majstorsku radionicu i info dan: „Kako razmišljati izvan uobičajenih okvira”, namijenjenu polaznicima ovogodišnjeg programa usavršavnja - MIDPOINT Series Launch. Radionica se održala 17. rujna 2025. i bila je zamišljena kao prostor za kreativno promišljanje, strateško planiranje i praktično razumijevanje načina na koji se projekti TV serija mogu razvijati i pozicionirati u sklopu Kreativne Europe MEDIA. 
Ova majstorska radionioca i info dan realizirana je s MIDPOINT programom usavršavanja, jedne od najuglednijih europskih platformi za razvoj scenarija i audiovizualnih projekata. MIDPOINT svake godine okuplja poveći broj europskih autora, producenata i razvojnih stručnjaka kroz specijalizirane laboratorije za razvoj serija i dugometražnih projekata, pružajući im mentorstvo vodećih europskih eksperata, pristup tržištima i snažnu profesionalnu mrežu. Partnerstvo s MIDPOINT-om dodatno je podiglo kvalitetu radionice, osiguravši visoku razinu stručnosti, međunarodnu perspektivu i izravnu povezanost s aktualnim europskim trendovima u razvoju serija i audiovizualnog sadržaja.
U širem kontekstu ove suradnje, radionica je bila povezana s programom MIDPOINT Series Launch 2025., u sklopu kojeg je razvijano devet perspektivnih serijskih projekata podijeljenih u tri radne grupe, uz mentorsku podršku voditelja grupa i razvojnih izvršnih pripravnika (Development Executive Trainees). Program je obuhvatio projekte 25 Percent, Bloody Bay, The Genesis Project, Safe House, Kafka, Isle of Ref, Ann Was Here, The Man Behind a Mask i We Are Still Here, koji su se bavili raznolikim temama — od društvene nejednakosti i tržišta nekretnina, preko obiteljskih i etičkih dilema, do povijesnih i političkih narativa.
U programu su sudjelovali: Lieselotte Belon, Daniela Esposito, Martin Horvat, Aleksandra Hulboj, Anna Kalnina, Melita Mukavec, Kristofer Piir, Matej Randar, Jakub Rezny, Olga Rozanova, Vivian Sade, Sergei Serpuhov, Rastislav Sestak, Piotr Smiechowski, Vicky Van Hemelrijck i Karolina Zalabakova, dok su u ulozi Development Executive Trainees sudjelovali Mert Dilek, Inja Korać i Elena Tarashchanskaya. Povezivanje radionice s ovim europskim MIDPOINT okruženjem dodatno je naglasilo europsku dimenziju programa te potaknulo razmjenu znanja između hrvatskih i inozemnih profesionalaca.
Središnja tema susreta bila je razvoj TV serija izvan uobičajenih okvira — poticanje sudionika da ne razmišljaju samo o formalnoj prihvatljivosti za MEDIA pozive, nego i o umjetničkoj snazi, publici, međunarodnom potencijalu i inovativnim oblicima pripovijedanja. Sudionici su bili potaknuti da preispitaju vlastite pristupe razvoju, dramaturgiji, partnerstvima i distribuciji.
Kroz kombinaciju predavanja i zajedničkog rada, radionica je pomogla sudionicima da:
  • bolje razumiju logiku KE MEDIA poziva,
  • jasnije artikuliraju europsku dodanu vrijednost svojih projekata,
  • promišljaju o publici i distribuciji već u fazi razvoja te 
  • steknu veće samopouzdanje u prijavljivanju na buduće pozive.

Kako bi se potaknulo aktivno sudjelovanje, polaznicima je prije susreta poslan kratki pripremni zadatak kojim su se mogli unaprijed pripremiti s idejom ili projektom.
Ova radionica funkcionirala je i kao pripremni MEDIA Info dan za TV Beats Tallinn (16.–19. studenoga 2025.), gdje su sudionici imali priliku sudjelovati u individualnim konzultacijama i dodatnim profesionalnim aktivnostima. Oni bez razrađenog projekta mogli su sudjelovati kao promatrači ili predstaviti preliminarnu ideju za dobivanje povratnog osvrta. a
Uloga DKE – Ureda MEDIA Hrvatske obuhvatila je koordinaciju programa, moderiranje radionice i praktičnog dijela te osiguravanje da je radionica direktno relevantna za buduće MEDIA prijave MIDPOINT polaznika.

The Creative Europe Desk – MEDIA Office Croatia organised a MEDIA masterclass and information day entitled “How to Think Outside the Box”, aimed at the MIDPOINT training programme ‘TV Series Launch’s participants.  The session took place on 17 September 2025 and was conceived as a space for creative reflection, strategic thinking and practical understanding of how TV series projects can be shaped and positioned within the Creative Europe MEDIA.
This masterclass and info day was implemented in strategic collaboration with the MIDPOINT training programme, one of Europe’s leading platforms for the development of screenwriting and audiovisual projects. Each year, MIDPOINT brings together a wide range of European writers, producers and development professionals through specialised labs for series and feature film development, providing mentorship from leading European experts, access to markets and a strong professional network. The partnership with MIDPOINT strengthened the quality and international dimension of the workshop, ensuring high-level expertise and alignment with current European trends in audiovisual development.
In the broader context of this cooperation, the masterclass was linked to MIDPOINT Series Launch 2025, which supported the development of nine promising series projects organised into three working groups, each guided by a group leader and a Development Executive Trainee. The programme included the projects 25 Percent, Bloody Bay, The Genesis Project, Safe House, Kafka, Isle of Ref, Ann Was Here, The Man Behind a Mask and We Are Still Here, covering a wide range of themes from social inequality and housing markets to ethical dilemmas, historical narratives and political contexts.
The MIDPOINT participants involved in the programme were Lieselotte Belon, Daniela Esposito, Martin Horvat, Aleksandra Hulboj, Anna Kalnina, Melita Mukavec, Kristofer Piir, Matej Randar, Jakub Rezny, Olga Rozanova, Vivian Sade, Sergei Serpuhov, Rastislav Sestak, Piotr Smiechowski, Vicky Van Hemelrijck and Karolina Zalabakova, while the Development Executive Trainees were Mert Dilek, Inja Korac and Elena Tarashchanskaya. Linking the masterclass and info day with this European MIDPOINT environment reinforced the European dimension of the programme and fostered meaningful knowledge exchange between Croatian and international professionals.
At the core of the masterclass was the idea of developing projects beyond conventional frameworks — encouraging participants to think not only about eligibility, but also about artistic vision, audience reach, international relevance and innovative storytelling. The session invited participants to reconsider their approaches to development, partnerships and distribution from a broader European perspective.
Through a combination of presentation and collaborative work, the masterclass helped participants to:
  • better understand the logic of MEDIA calls,
  • articulate the European added value of their projects more clearly,
  • integrate audience considerations earlier in the development process and
  • feel more confident about applying for future Creative Europe MEDIA funding.

To foster meaningful engagement, participants received a short preparatory assignment in advance, encouraging them to arrive with an idea or project that could be discussed and further developed during the session.
This masterclass also functioned as a preparatory MEDIA Info Day for TV Beats Tallinn (16–19 November 2025), where participants had access to individual consultations and additional professional networking opportunities. Those without a fully developed project could attend consultations as observers or present a draft idea for informal feedback.
The role of the Creative Europe Desk – MEDIA Office Croatia included programme coordination, collaboration with MIDPOINT, content and workshop moderation, and ensuring that the workshop was directly relevant to future Creative Europe MEDIA applications.
Overall, the initiative aimed to inspire more MIDPOINT creators and producers to engage with the Creative Europe MEDIA, think strategically about their projects, and participate more actively in European audiovisual networks.
